State Police Investigating Monday Crash that Killed Two in Wellesley
Preliminary investigation by Trooper Scott Irish indicates that a 1997 Dodge van was traveling northbound in the left lane when it veered off the left side of the road, striking the guardrail and then colliding with the bridge abutment
The van's driver, Robert Bibeau, 80, of Arlington, suffered serious injuries and was transported by medical helicopter to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was pronounced deceased today. The passenger, Joan Bibeau, 77, of Arlington, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The facts and circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation by Troop H of the Massachusetts State Police, with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section.
State Police were assisted at the scene by the Needham and Wellesley fire departments and the Highway Division of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.
