State Police Fugitive Hunters, Haverhill Police Track Down Child Rape Suspect
The Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section (VFAS) and the Haverhill Police Department in recent days tracked a child rape suspect to an address in New York City. The suspect was taken into custody this morning at that address by the New York Police Department.
JOSE ALBERTO GONZALEZ-BONILLA, a.k.a., JOSE B. GONZALEZ, 29, is the subject of a warrant out of Haverhill District Court charging him with rape of a child with force. Evidence developed by Haverhill Police indicates that GONZALEZ-BONILLA repeatedly raped a female 11-year-old relative repeatedly, beginning in 2009.
State Police VFAS and Haverhill Police had worked together on the investigation since Dec. 2, and as a result of various investigative methods focused on a New York City address this weekend. The information was relayed to the NYPD yesterday.
At 5:30 this morning, NYPD fugitive unit officers hit an apartment at 43-17 49th Street in Queens, where they found GONZALEZ-BONILLA hiding in a closet. The Essex County District Attorney’s Office will coordinate the defendant’s return to Massachusetts with New York authorities.
