State Police Investigating Fatal Crash on Route 140 in Lakeville

Last night at 7:58 p.m., troopers assigned to the State Police Barracks in Middleboro responded to a single-car crash on Route140 southbound, prior to Exit 9, in Lakeville. The lone occupant suffered fatal injuries in the crash.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Joseph Baker indicates that Kevin Lubin, 31, of New Bedford was opeatraing1998 Chevrolet Lumina on Route 140 when the vehicle traveled off the roadway and struck a tree. Mr Lubin suffered serious injures and was trapped in the vehicle for one and a half hours before he was extricated by emergency personnel. He was subsequently pronounced deceased.

The investigation into the facts and circumstances surrounding the crash, including if weather and speed were contributing factors, is being conducted by Troop D of the Massachusetts State Police with the assistance of the State Police Crime Scene Services Section and State Police detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office.

State Police were also assisted at the scene by the Lakeville Fire Department.
