State Trooper Arrests Bank Robbers

Today at 3:53 p.m., Trooper Robert Mark Foley was on patrol at the Esplanade in Boston when he heard a broadcast that the Eastern Bank located at 687 Centre Street in Jamaica Plain, had just been robbed. The Boston Police Department broadcasted a "BOLO" (Be On the LookOut) for a 2003 Pontiac Sunfire with a male passenger who had just told a teller at the bank that he had a gun, which was wrapped in a towel, and then demanded money.

The "BOLO" indicated a female was operating the getaway vehicle and as Trooper Foley traveled down Boylston Street, he observed the wanted pair in their vehicle, traveling in the opposite direction.

Trooper Foley was able to turn around and stop the vehicle on Boylston Street, near Park Drive. With the assistance of several other responding Troopers, as well as several Boston Police Officers, Trooper Foley placed both parties under arrest for the robbery.

The male was identified as Brook L. Bundia, 34, of Boston and witnesses at the scene positively identified him and his female accomplice. The female accomplice was turned over to the Boston Police for booking while Trooper Foley booked Bundia at the State Police Barracks in Boston

After booking, Trooper Foley turned Bundia over to the FBI Bank Robbery Task Force and the Boston Police Department for follow-up investigation as well as the issuance of appropriate criminal charges.

No weapons were located after the arrest and the amount of money stolen from the bank was approximately $1500.

No further information is available at this time. Please do not call the barracks directly.
