State Police Arrest Two Carjacking Suspects

Massachusetts State Police charged two Boston men with carjacking, assault and battery, and disorderly conduct after they attempted to carjack a vehicle being driven by a 57-year-old Boston resident earlier today.

At approximately 1:40 a.m., Trooper Timothy Burns from the Boston State Police Barracks observed a commotion at the intersection of Melnea Cass Boulevard and Washington Street in the Roxbury area of Boston. He observed a 57 -year-old Boston man standing behind a livery vehicle stating he was just jumped. There were two occupants inside the vehicle, whom the trooper ordered to the ground.

The driver stated he had picked up the two men outside a bar in Brighton and was taking them to South Boston when one man-later identified as 20 -year-old Alexander Decosta of South Boston - jumped into the front seat of his vehicle and placed him in a headlock and started to choke him. The second passenger, Christopher Stutzman, 23, of Dorchester, also climbed into the front seat and assaulted the victim. The driver was able to secure the vehicle in park, grab the keys, and exit his vehicle as Trooper Burns arrived on scene.

Both men were placed under arrest and transported to the State Police Barracks in Boston where they have been charged with carjacking, assault and battery, and disorderly conduct. Both are due in Roxbury District Court on Monday.
