State Trooper Struck and Seriously Injured by Vehicle Which Fled the Scene
The Trooper was outside his cruiser, on the ramp to Route 90 Eastbound coming from Route 93 Northbound, prior to the entrance to the Ted Williams Tunnel. He was signaling a vehicle to stop and that vehicle struck him and then fled the scene.
Investigators are reviewing video camera tapes throughout the entire tunnel system to obtain further information about the suspect vehicle.
The Trooper was seriously injured and was transported to Boston Medical Center for treatment.
The State Police Collision Analysis Section and the State Police Crime Scene Service Section have been processing the scene and the ramps were closed for approximately 1 hour for the investigation.
Based on information obtained, a Be-On-the-Lookout (BOLO) is being issued for a dark colored, mid-sized sedan, which has right front ¼ panel damage.
Anyone with information regarding the suspect vehicle is asked to contact State Police Investigators at (508) 820-2121.
Two witness vehicles were identified; a white or silver colored Toyota Camry and a white van; both of which were "cut-off" by the suspect vehicle. Those operators are also asked to contact State Police Investigators.
