State Police Investigating Fatal Crash in Burlington
Preliminary investigation by Trooper Patrick Ahl indicates that a 46-year-old male from Burlington was operating a 2000 Land Rover Discovery when he lost control of the vehicle and rolled over. The operator, who was the sole occupant, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. Responding EMS personnel pronounced him deceased at the scene.
Investigators at the scene believe speed may be the main contributing factor for this crash.
All lanes of route 95 northbound were closed, for approximately 3 hours, as the investigation was conducted. Traffic was diverted off the roadway at exit 33a and then re-entered the highway at exit 33b.
The victim's identity is being withheld as his family resides in a foreign country and Troopers have been unable to contact them.
The facts and circumstances of this crash remain under investigation by Troop A of the Massachusetts State Police with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services section. Troopers at the scene were also assisted by the Department of Transportation, Highway Division and the Burlington Fire Department.
