Another of the state's Most Wanted Sex Offenders is behind bars.

After members of the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section directed out-of-state agencies to possible locations of MICHAEL O. KELLY, 34, a New Jersey fugitive task force found and arrested KELLY in Jersey City.

KELLY was arrested Wednesday by United States Marshals, New Jersey State Troopers and local officers at 20B Marcy Place in Jersey Cit y. KELLY was charged as a fugitive from justice. Authorities will now work to arrange his rendition to Massachusetts.

KELLY was wanted for violating his probation from a 2000 Suffolk Superior Court conviction for incident assault and battery on a five-year-old girl. He was also wanted on warrants charging him with failure to register as a sex offender and with motor vehicle violations.

The Massachusetts Sex Offender Registry Board had classified KELLY as a Level 3 Sex Offender.

Over the past eight months, Massachusetts State Troopers assigned to the Department's Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section and United States Marshals have worked to develop leads on KELLY's whereabouts. Their investigation revealed that KELLY was travelling frequently between Atlanta, New Jersey and New York to avoid capture. Trooper Colette Tamuleviz forwarded information about KELLY to police in those areas, leading to his arrest Wednesday in New Jersey.
