State Police Motor Vehicle Stop Results in Seizure of Drugs

Yesterday at approximately 3:30 p.m., Massachusetts State Police Trooper Ronald Solimini stopped a Chevrolet Trailblazer for motor vehicle violations as it exited off of Route 93 northbound onto Route 28 in Randolph. The operator was initially identified as EDGAR OLIVI-RIOS, 28, of Lynn.

During the motor vehicle stop Trooper Solimini discovered a plastic bag containing approximately 102 grams of a white, powdery substance believed to be cocaine in the driver’s seat. Upon the discovery, OLIVI-RIOS denied ownership of the powder. He was placed under arrest and transported back to the Milton State Police barracks to be booked.

During the booking process OLIVI-RIOS’ information and fingerprints were sent to the FBI to be recorded and verified, which is standard procedure for all arrests. This process revealed that on March 3, 2011 OLIVI-RIOS had been arrested for illegally entering the United States using a different name, EMILIO JOSE SOTO-AYBAN.

Troopers re-booked the defendant under the name EMILIO JOSE SOTO-AYBAN, which is believed to be his real name. Trooper Solomini seized SOTO-AYBAN’s Massachusetts driver’s license as it was issued under a false name with a Social Security number belonging to another man living in Colorado.

SOTO-AYBAN is charged with trafficking cocaine over 100 grams, possession with intent to distribute a Class B substance, possession of a forged Registry of Motor Vehicle document, furnishing a false name and operating an uninspected motor vehicle.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement has been notified and that agency is now conducting their own investigation.

Trooper Solomini is assigned to the Troop H Community Action Team
