Mar 26: State Police Arrest Man in Lexington for OUI Drugs

Last night at approximately 8:25 pm, Troopers assigned to the Massachusetts State Police Concord Barracks received several reports of a red BMW that was operating erratically  in the area of Route 128 north in Burlington. Numerous cell phone callers reported that the BMW continuously struck the guardrail as it proceeded to travel on Route 128. Troopers Zachary Bolcome, Giuseppe Ciampa, Michael Tulipano and Robert Demeo began searching for the BMW.

At some point, the BMW exited the highway and then proceeded onto Route 128 south where Trooper Zachary Bolcome located it in Lexington. The BMW stopped in the breakdown lane after a brief pursuit.

The operator of the BMW, CHARLES E. CONNELLY, 55, of Belmont was subsequently arrested and charged with the following offenses:

1.                  Operating Under the Influence of Drugs;
2.                  Possession of a Class A Substance;
3.                  Possession of a Class E Substance;
4.                  Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle;
5.                  Marked Lanes Violation;
6.                  Failure to Stop for the Police.

CONNELLY was released on bail and arraigned this morning at Concord District Court
