This certification allows the holder to service, install and repair oil burners and associated appurtenances.
Who should have one?
Anyone installing, servicing or repairing power oil burners that burn fuel oil.
What are the prerequisites?
The applicant must be able to demonstrate knowledge of oil burners and associated equipment by passing a strenuous written and/or oral exam. The applicant must also demonstrate a thorough knowledge of 527 CMR 4.00, as well as knowledge of safety devices, automatic, pneumatic and electronic controls. A working knowledge of pipefitting and heating is essential. The applicant must be eighteen (18) years of age, and a U.S. citizen.
How is this license obtained?
The applicant must pass a written exam.
