- Law enforcement becomes aware that a child or children may have been abducted.
- The investigating agency confirms a child has been abducted and notify the State Police.
- State Police ensure the abduction meets AMBER Criteria:
- Child is under 17 years old
- Child is in serious danger of bodily harm or death
- There is enough descriptive information to believe an AMBER Alert will help locate the child
- State Police activate the Emergency Broadcast System.
- Local broadcasters interrupt regular programming to broadcast available information.
- Public becomes the eyes and ears of the law enforcement, calling 911 if they have any information.
