How Chapter 385 Affects Camps

Chapter 385 of the Acts of 2002 amended M.G.L. c. 6 by adding § 172G, which mandates that operators of camps are required to run CORI checks on all employees and volunteers. Under the new law, camps are entitled to receive an individual's entire adult criminal record (which includes conviction and non-conviction data, plus pending cases), as well as their juvenile record. Both the Department of Public Health regulations and the new statute require that CORI checks be performed on employees and volunteers prior to hire/acceptance.
