The 1st SPMA class has completed week 17. This weeks training included 24 hours of Standardized Field Sobriety Testing. Trooper Mullaney and Officer MaClean of the Franklin Police Department instructed the course. Volunteers consumed alcoholic beverages in a controlled environment; student officers used their training to gauge the effects of intoxication on the volunteers. This week also commenced the beginning of "Physical Confrontation" training. Students are trained in a step by step process how to defend and protect oneself from a physical confrontation. Other classes taught this week included Criminal Procedure and Defensive Tactics.

The 1st SPMA recently received their class guidon. The student officers designed the guidon and selected four Latin words for the guidon; Virtus, Vires, Veneratio, and Fortitudo. The words were well selected and the class is holding up to their self professed standards; Honor, Courage, Strength, and Fortitude.
