Student Officers of the first State Police Municipal Academy successfully completed their eighteenth week of training at the State Police Academy in New Braintree. Week Eighteen included training in LEAPS in the Computer Lab, Active Shooter with the Firearms Training Unit, building clearing with the STOP Team, Crime Scene Investigations, Criminal procedure and B&E Investigations taught by Chief Hurley of the Leicester PD.

This week also included one full day of scenario training which enlisted the support of personnel from many outside agencies who acted as role players. There were fifteen scenarios total, each lasting approximately 22 minutes, that were executed throughout the complex. The scenarios consisted of various traffic stops as well as calls for service such as larceny, shoplifting, and domestic violence.
The week ended with "Physical Confrontation Bouts". Students were paired up for their bouts according to height, weight, and level of skill, and then sparred for two minutes.
As with all facets of SPMA #1 training the instructors for all of this week's training were made up of both Municipal Officers, and Massachusetts State Police Officers.Click thumbnail to view full size image:
