Student Officers of the first State Police Municipal Academy successfully completed their fourth week of training at the State Police Academy in New Braintree. Their training for Week Four included Gun Laws, Bias Crimes, Drug Recognition, Defensive Tactics, Applied Patrol Procedures, Criminal Law, Public Speaking, and Leadership. This week's defensive tactics instruction emphasized various prisoner control, and handcuffing techniques. Other classes included the practical aspects of drug identification, as well as training in hate crimes, and sexual harassment.

This week Academy staff instructors, as well as instructors from the Worcester, Spencer, and Springfield Police Departments team-taught many of the courses. Attorney John Scheft of Law Enforcement Dimensions also provided several blocks of instruction.
