Recruits at the second State Police Municipal Academy concluded their second week of training at the State Police Academy. Fifty-two student officers remain in the program. Week two instruction consisted of defensive tactics, motor vehicle law, criminal law, criminal procedure, patrol procedures, and leadership training. Practical applications of defensive tactics and patrol procedure instruction has begun, and each student officer has already conducted several procedurally sound motor vehicle stops.
In addition to Academy staff instructors, the second week's training included expert instruction from officers from the West Springfield, Pittsfield, Amherst, Northampton and the Worcester Police Departments.
