The Student officers of SPMA II have completed their sixth week of training. The class recently held class elections; Student Officer Darren Derby of the Pittsfield Police Department has been elected class President. Student Officer Michael Westcott of Southwick Police is the Vice-President, Timothy Chiappini of the Oak Bluffs Police Department is the Secretary and Student Officers Elbert Jordan of Brookline and Keith Forget of Salisbury Police are the class Treasurers. The election of class officers will allow for increased communication between the Academy Staff as we prepare to enter phase II of training.

The week's training was comprised of Motor Vehicle Law, Defensive Tactics, Ethics, Sexual Assault Investigation, Public Speaking, Conflict Resolution, and Investigative Techniques. Instructors came from the Worcester District Attorney's Office, West Springfield Police, as well as, Belchertown Police Chief Fran Fox, Western Mass Physical Training Instructor Delilah Yee and Holyoke Officer Keith Holbrook. The Defensive Tactics Staff is a combined staff utilizing Massachusetts State Troopers, as well as, Officers from Amherst, West Springfield, Pittsfield and Pelham.
