State Police Municipal Academy Student Officers have completed their eighth week of training. Week eight included Motor Vehicle Law, Criminal Procedure, Defensive Tactics, Report Writing, ICS Review, EVOC Introduction, Firearms Safety, and Leadership. Chief Fox, Belchertown Police Department, provided instruction in Conflict Resolution, while Chief Hurley, Leicester Police Department, taught B&E Investigations. Instructors from Lenox, New Braintree, Pelham, Pittsfield, Holden and Franklin Police Departments assisted or taught many of the courses.
Student Officers have completed their second comprehensive exam, and all 49 Student Officers have passed. Additionally, the Student Officers participated in their first physical fitness test. The Student officers were scored on their ability to perform sit-ups, pushups, vertical leap, 300 meter run and a 1.5 timed mile run. All Student Officers completed their fitness testing with significant improvement from their pre-Academy assessment.
