The primary mission of the Digital Evidence and Multimedia Section (D.E.M.S.) is to perform computer forensic examinations, forensic support, and technical assistance to Federal, State and local law enforcement within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The D.E.M.S. is committed to conducting impartial and objective examinations using the best available tools and in accordance with ASCLD/LAB accreditation and procedures. In addition, the D.E.M.S. is dedicated to supporting investigations conducted by Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Forces throughout the United States.
Resources provided by the Massachusetts State Police DEMS:
•Examination of hard drives, removable media, CD/DVDs, cellular devices, mobile devices, GPS devices, wireless & WiFi devices.
•Respond on-call statewide to crime scenes and investigations involving Digital Evidence.
•Provide on-site previews of Digital Evidence during Search Warrants to assist investigators and provide time-sensitive information and findings.
•Provide video surveillance capture and clarification to digital video files, web video, analog video, still cameras, or scanned images
