This Unit identifies new methodologies and technologies to streamline DNA analysis processes within the Forensic Biology Units. The Unit also provides scientific support for casework operations in the following areas:
- Quality Control
- Research & Development
- Validation
- Automation
- Troubleshooting
- Training
Quality Control - conducts quality control for the DNA Unit to comply with our quality assurance program per ASCLD/LAB standards.
Validation - validates equipment and scientific procedures to comply with Scientific Working Group on DNA Analysis Methods (SWGDAM) guidelines, and assists with technical and scientific problems.
Automation - researches and develops automated robotic systems to enable high-volume throughput.
Training - coordinates and provides technical training and assistance to all chemists in the Forensic Biology Section.
