Forensic examination of shotgun cartridge
The Firearms Identification Section (FIS) is responsible for conducting scientific examination, comparison, and identification of firearms and firearms related evidence. Weapon operability must be demonstrated to support the successful prosecution of weapons-related offenses. Members respond to crime scenes to assist in determining what role, if any, a firearm has played in the commission of a crime. The FIS is also responsible for the destruction of firearms and ammunition as ordered by the court.
