This course is open to new officers from agencies outside of the MPTC’s mandate. Individuals interested in the police profession not hired by a police department are invited to apply however, must be sponsored by either a municipal or University of Massachusetts Police Chief or Massachusetts Environmental Police Colonel and is responsible for all medical, equipment and tuition costs incurred. Applicants outside of the MPTC mandate are accepted on a space-available basis.
The MPTC is not involved in either hiring or sponsoring students nor does the MPTC set hiring standards for entry-level police officers. Entry-level hiring standards and sponsorship are left to the discretion of the hiring/sponsoring agency and/or the Human Resource Division’s Civil Service Unit.
