The Reserve/Intermittent Recruit Officer Course consists of 310 hours. The classes will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 4pm-10pm.  An additional 20-hour firearms course will be provided.  The Firearms and ammunition are to be provided by the sponsoring department.

Training Location:  Classes will be held at the Berkshire County Sheriff’s Department located at 467 Cheshire Road in Pittsfield.  

Enrollment Requirements:  

Sponsorship:  In order for you to attend an Academy you must be sponsored by a Chief of Police in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. You must obtain this sponsorship yourself, and it does not guarantee employment with that or any other agency.  

Health Insurance:  You will be required to have health insurance to participate. It will be the responsibility of the sponsoring chief to verify insurance coverage as verified in the MPTC application.  

Firearms:  The Firearms and ammunition are to be provided by the sponsoring department.
