Troop A, one of six troops within the, Division of Field Services, is located in the busy and congested Northeast quadrant of the state. The Troop Headquarters was originally located in Framingham for all but one year in the early 70's when it was moved to Concord. During the 1950's and 60's, Logan Airport (Formerly A-6), was part of Troop A until Troop F was created under Massport. In 1994, the patrol areas were realigned in Troops A and H, to encompass the Metropolitan District Commission stations of Revere and Medford. Organized by area and coordinated by Troop A Headquarters in Danvers, the Major highways of Routes 95/128, 93, 495 and Rte 3 as well as lesser roadways, DCR parkways and State Parks and Reservations, all fall into this dynamic, yet vast area that covers over 977 square miles. The Troop's primary responsibility is to ensure that the primary and secondary roadways of the 70 municipalities located within the Troop's boundaries are adequately patrolled and responded to for service. Within each station's boundaries are many diversified city and town police departments that this Troop partners with to achieve safer roadways and provide resources during critical incidents.
