Situated in a highly visible and easily accessible location alongside Route 2, the Leominster State Police barracks provides police services to the twin cities of Leominster and Fitchburg, as well as 12 other communities in Middlesex and Worcester Counties from the New Hampshire border southward. Originally constructed in the 1950's, the Leominster barracks was renovated in 2000 to a more modern complex.
Troopers assigned to this barracks patrol a diverse area covering Routes 2, 190, and 495; as well as nine secondary state highways, two state parks, three state correctional facilities, three airports, one state college, one federal correctional facility, and the south post firing range on Fort Devens. The Leominster barracks provides a full range of police services to the combined urban, rural, and bedroom communities within its area. In addition to proactive patrol, Troopers from the Leominster barracks are called on to respond to a variety of incidents from motor vehicle and plane crashes, to missing persons, armed robberies, disturbances and much, much more.
The Leominster State barracks serves as an excellent example of the current State Police and the community State Policing of the future.
