On November 7, 2009 agents from Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) Border Patrol in Carrizo-Springs, Texas apprehended Rivera, Sergio W-48372. Rivera was taken into custody trying to enter the United States illegally. During the arrest procedure it was learned he had an outstanding warrant in Massachusetts for escaping from Bay Sate Correctional Center in 1990.
Rivera escaped from the custody of the Massachusetts DOC in 1990. At the time of his escape, he was serving a 6-10 year state prison term for distribution of heroin and cocaine. Rivera is described as a Hispanic male, 5 ft. 11 in. tall, 160 pounds, brown hair and brown eyes. His date of birth is April 5, 1965. His last known address was in Lawrence, Massachusetts. He has ties to Rhode Island, Puerto Rico, the New York City area and the Dominican Republic.
