Art Program: Vendor facilitated programming. Inmates learn skills in different art modalities and the opportunity to work on individual projects. The goal of this programming is to encourage inmates to develop self-esteem and self-awareness through the expressive arts.

Art Therapy: Staff supervised art program which offers morning and afternoon classes, five days per week. Classes are offered in all art modalities. This program is geared toward the special needs patient population at the State Hospital.

Calligraphy: Volunteers teach inmates this very disciplined graphic technique that demands concentration and commitment, using a quick, simple and practical method.

Chess Club: Staff supervised program where inmates learn how to play chess, tournaments are also held. This program provides a structured environment where chess enthusiasts from beginners to advanced players can learn more about the aspects of the game.

Fitness Program: Volunteer facilitated, in cell video program designed to provide inmates with fitness education and enhance physical wellbeing.

Greenhouse and/or Garden Program: Staff supervised program during which inmates grow flowers and vegetables in designated individual garden plots. In some institutions volunteers provide basic horticultural education and/or the produce grown is donated to local charities.

Intramural Community Basketball Program: Both staff supervised and volunteer facilitated program. Volunteers, through members of the Raynham Athletic Club, provide inmates/patients an opportunity for interaction with the community through recreational activities. In addition the program promotes the practice of team sportsmanship.

Music Program: Staff supervised program that enables participants to learn basic music theory, comprehension and practice. Inmates join bands to rehearse and perform. In cell use of instruments varies among facilities. It is often limited to those inmates that can be utilized with headphones and do not disrupt the housing unit.

Newsletter/Journalism Course: Vendor facilitated program that teaches fundamental writing, formatting and publication skills. A newsletter, written and printed by inmates, is published four times per year.

Poetry Group: A former Boston University professor coordinates this group. Every other month, artists from the community meet with inmates to review and critique their poems.

Weekly Scrabble Group: Staff supervised program where inmates learn how to play scrabble, competitions are also held. This program provides a structured environment where scrabble enthusiasts from beginners to advanced players can learn more about the aspects of the game.
