The Clinical Services Division is responsible for the delivery of quality health care to the entire Massachusetts Department of Correction inmate population. This includes medical, dental, mental health, and forensic mental health services for inmates. Since January 1992, the Clinical Services Division has contracted with a private vendor to deliver these services.
In addition to 10,000 inmates in State facilities, the Division provides for the health care needs of nearly 1,000 state inmates in Houses of Correction and Contract Pre-Release programs.
All 17 DOC facilities have been awarded National Commission on Correctional Health Care accreditation, a measurement of compliance with nationally recognized prison health care standards.
