UPDATE ON SECURE COMMUNITIES PUBLIC MEETINGS

BOSTON - Saturday April 16, 2011 - The Executive Office of Public Safety and Security announced at today's fourth Secure Communities public meeting in Waltham that it is consolidating the remainder of the community meetings regarding the Federal Secure Communities Program. These meetings, which have been taking place since February, have promoted an open dialogue around the Federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Secure Communities program. To date, over a thousand individuals have shared their opinions at the meetings.

The Executive Office of Public Safety and the Office for Refugees and Immigrants will hold two more community meetings in Chelsea and Brockton. EOPSS encourages all individuals interested in providing feedback to attend these two meetings.

The following dates and locations have been confirmed as the final two community meetings. Individuals interested in sharing feedback who are unable to attend these meetings are encouraged to provide their feedback to the Governor's Office of Constituent Services at 617-725-4025.
