THE READINESS AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT FOR SCHOOLS GRANT

The U.S. Department of Education's Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools announces that the Readiness and Emergency Management for Schools grant has been released. This is the grant formerly known as the Emergency Response and Crisis Management (ERCM) grant. The CFDA number is the same: 84.184E and the name change has been made to reflect more common terminology in the field of school emergency management today. Purpose of Program: The Readiness and Emergency Management for Schools (REMS) grant competition supports efforts by LEAs to improve and strengthen their school emergency management plans, including training school personnel and students in emergency response procedures; communicating emergency plans and procedures with parents; and coordinating with local law enforcement, public safety, public health, and mental health agencies. Applications for grants under this competition may be submitted electronically using the Grants.gov Apply site (Grants.gov), or in paper format by mail or hand delivery.
