Media

Inquiries from the media are handled by the Essex District Attorney’s Communications staff.  In determining what information to release to the media, the Communications Staff takes into account the public’s right to know, the integrity of an investigation and the rights of the individuals involved.   In addition, the District Attorney’s Office is bound by Rules 3.6 and 3.8(e) of the Supreme Judicial Court’s Rules of Professional Conduct, which prohibit prosecutors from making extra-judicial statements that could prejudice court proceedings.
