Rockport Officer Pleads Not Guilty To Charges
Rockport Police Officer Robert O'Neil, 38, of 9 Darby Lane, Rockport, pleaded not guilty today in Gloucester District Court to assault charges of with a dangerous weapon, domestic assault and battery, armed assault with intent to murder, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building.
The charges stem from an alleged incident at his home that took place on Friday morning, January 13. His wife is the alleged victim.
Judge Joseph Jennings ordered him held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing, which is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Friday, January 19.
Essex Assistant District Attorney Poppi Hagan represented the Commonwealth. O'Neil was represented at arraignment by Attorney Eric Goldman. He will be represented at Friday's dangerousness hearing by Attorney Thomas Drechsler.
