D.A. Blodgett Taps United States Secret Service For Annual School Safety Conference
The conference, "Best Practices in School Safety and Emergency Response: Newest Recommendations from National Experts," will take place on Wednesday, April 9, 2008, from 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. in Coolidge Hall at the Topsfield Fairgrounds. It is presented in collaboration with the Department of Mental Health Northeast Area Office, Health and Education Services, and the Beverly and Triton Regional Public School Districts.
The Secret Service will share findings from the Safe School Initiative to help participants better understand school-based attacks, identify and assess students who may pose a risk, and help them develop strategies for preventing targeted violence. During the course of its three hour presentation, the Secret Service will also review the case studies of two school shootings.
Also speaking at the conference will be Fred Ellis, Director of the Office of Safety and Security for the Fairfax (VA) County Public Schools, whose focus will be on effective school crisis emergency plans.
The brochure for the conference is attached to this press release.
