Gloucester Woman Pleads Not Guilty To Oui

A Gloucester woman, who was allegedly driving drunk when her car struck an SUV carrying actor Sandra Bullock and her husband Jesse James last Friday night, pleaded not guilty this morning in Gloucester District Court to charges of operating under the influence of alcohol and a marked lanes violation.

Judge Joseph Jennings released Lucile Gatchell, 64, of 19A Starknaught Heights, on personal recognizance on the conditions that she remain alcohol free, and that she not drive unless properly licensed. The judge ordered her to return to court on June 6 for a pre-trial hearing.

Gatchell was driving her gray station wagon on East Main Street at about 9:50 Friday night, when she allegedly crossed the center line and struck Bullock's vehicle. No one was injured in the accident.

The Commonwealth was represented by Essex Assistant District Attorney Kate Hartigan. Gatchell was represented by Attorney Benjamin Richard of Gloucester.
