Lynn Arrest Nets Cocaine Worth $1.3 Million

The Essex County Drug Task Force, assigned to the Office of Essex District Attorney Jonathan W. Blodgett, arrested an alleged drug trafficker at 3 p.m. yesterday on Boston Street in Lynn, seizing 14 kilos of cocaine from a hidden compartment in his car. The cocaine has a street value of $1.3 million.

Yorgi Tejeda, 33, of 85 Archdale Road, Roslindale, was charged with trafficking Class B cocaine, over 200 grams. Tejeda is being held without bail at the Middleton House of Correction, and will be arraigned tomorrow morning in Lynn District Court.

Tejeda's arrest is the culmination of a three year investigation by the Essex County Drug Task Force, with assistance from the Lynn Police Department, state police assigned to the Offices of Worcester District Attorney Joseph D. Early, Jr., and Middlesex District Attorney Gerard T. Leone, Jr., Everett Police, and the Boston Office of the DEA.

Also taking part in Tejeda's arrest yesterday was State Police Trooper John Fallon and his K-9, "Richter."

If convicted of the charge, Tejeda faces a minimum mandatory sentence of 15 years in state prison
