Teen Killed In Boxford Crash

Classmate Charged with Motor Vehicle Homicide

Michael Doherty, 18, of 41 Highland Road, Boxford, died last night at Lawrence General Hospital following a single car crash that occurred on Highland Road at 6:34 last evening. The car went off the road and hit some trees.

Doherty, a student at Masconomet Regional High School in Boxford, was the lone passenger in a car driven by Evan Wiendczak, 18, of 525 Ipswich Road, Boxford, also a student at the school. Wiendczak is currently hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Wiendczak was cited this afternoon for motor vehicle homicide and speeding. Motor vehicle homicide carries up to 2 ½ years in the House of Correction and a 15 year loss of license.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by Boxford Police and the Massachusetts State Police Reconstruction Team.
