D.A. Blodgett Promote's Maureen Colby To Chief Financial Officer

Essex District Attorney Jonathan W. Blodgett has promoted Maureen Colby of Gloucester to the position of Chief Financial Officer. She will begin her new post on Monday, January 3.

She will replace veteran Assistant District Attorney Charles F. Grimes, who has been with the office since 1979 and is retiring after 32 years of distinguished service to the citizens of Essex County.

Colby joined the Essex District Attorney's Office as a victim/witness intern in Peabody District Court in the spring of 1993, and later that year became the administrative assistant for the Victim/Witness Services Director. She subsequently was the administrative assistant for the Partnerships for Violence Prevention Director.

In 1999 she took her skills to the Information Technology Unit, and in 2002 was named its director.

"Maureen brings intelligence and a tremendous work ethic to her new position, and I know she'll do an outstanding job," said District Attorney Blodgett. "I genuinely appreciate the fact that she started here as an intern, and because of hard work and perseverance, rose to one of the top level positions in this office. She's a testament to the fact that if you're willing to work hard and take advantage of opportunities along the way, anything is possible."

Colby is a Lynn native, and is the daughter of retired Lynn Police Sgt. Robert Condon and Elizabeth Condon. She lives in Gloucester with her husband and four daughters.
