D.A. Blodgett To Introduce New Prevention Program At Annual Policymakers Luncheon

Essex District Attorney Jonathan W. Blodgett will distribute copies of his newest prevention program, "Think Before You Send, Using Digital Communication Responsibly" at his Annual Policymakers Luncheon later this month.

The luncheon will take place on Wednesday, August 25 from noon - 1:30 in Misselwood at Endicott College, 376 Hale Street, Beverly.

The new prevention program was developed to raise awareness of issues related to privacy/disclosure of personal information, cyberbullying, digital dating abuse, sexting, predators, and the possible legal consequences that may result.

The luncheon speaker will be Ron Laney, Associate Administrator in the Child Protection Division within the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) in Washington, D.C. Mr. Laney develops and administers programs related to crimes against children, including missing and exploited children, Internet crimes, abuse and neglect, and children exposed to domestic or community violence.

Mr. Laney serves as Chair of the Federal Agency Task Force on Missing and Exploited Children, which is comprised of representatives from the Justice Department, FBI, U.S. Secret Service and other government agencies.

The media is invited to attend.
