Elderly Couple Found Dead in Beverly Home

On the day after he was to report to serve 9 years in the federal penitentiary, Peter Peggs, 75 was found dead with his wife E.M. Ann Peggs, 75 at their home at 216 Common Lane in Prides Crossing. Their friends called 911 at 12:33 this afternoon after discovering them in their car which was parked in the closed garage. Beverly Police and Fire Departments responded and the victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

Mr. Peggs was convicted of tax fraud and conspiracy in federal court in Michigan and was sentenced to 9 years in prison on May 28, 2010. He and two other co-conspirators ran a scheme selling fraudulent tax shelters. He was due to report to federal prison on July 22, 2010.

Beverly Police and Massachusetts State Police assigned to Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett's Office are investigating.
