Former North Andover Purchasing Agent Pleads Guilty To Embezzlement

Joseph Lydick, 44, of Derry, NH, the former purchasing agent for the Town of North Andover, pleaded guilty today in Salem Superior Court to three counts of embezzlement by a town officer.

Judge David Lowy sentenced Lydick to two years in the House of Correction, eight months to be served, the balance suspended for three years with probation. The judge also ordered Lydick to make restitution in the amount of $20,800 to the Town of North Andover.

Essex Assistant District Attorney Greg Friedholm told the court that Lydick posted surplus items owned by the town on eBay, and kept the proceeds. The items included trucks, a dumpster, snow plows and a sidewalk plow. The crimes were committed from August through November of 2009.

Friedholm praised the investigative work of North Andover Police Detectives Sean Daley and Rob Barter.
