Former Purchasing Agent Charged With Embezzlement

Surrenders Himself To The Court

A former North Andover purchasing agent surrendered himself today in Salem Superior Court on three counts of embezzlement by a public official, and will be held without bail until his scheduled change of plea and sentencing on August 24, before Judge David Lowy.

Joseph Lydick, 44, of Derry, NH, allegedly posted surplus items owned by the town of North Andover on eBay, and kept the proceeds, totaling approximately $20,000, for himself.

The case is being prosecuted by Essex Assistant District Attorney Greg Friedholm. Lydick is represented by Attorney Jessica Thrall from the Committee for Public Counsel Services.
