Lynn Man Pleads Not Guilty To Robbing, Beating Elderly Woman

Nicholas Christian, 30, of 7 Hammond Street, Lynn, pleaded not guilty today in Lynn District Court to beating and robbing an 89-year-old Lynn woman.

Christian allegedly assaulted Mrs. Geneva Sozanski on Monday, November 15, outside of 538 Eastern Avenue in Lynn. Mrs. Sozanski suffered head and facial injuries. Christian is charged with unarmed robbery on a person over 60, unarmed robbery, two counts of receiving stolen property under $250, and assault and battery on a person over 60 with serious injury.

Judge James LaMothe granted a request by Essex Assistant District Attorney Susan Dolhun to hold the defendant without bail pending a dangerousness hearing, which is scheduled for November 30.

Lynn Police arrested Christian yesterday at about noon at his home. Christian was represented at arraignment by Attorney Randi Potash.
