Men Indicted for Danvers and Lawrence Murders
An Essex County Grand Jury this afternoon handed up a first degree murder indictment against Stephen Anastasi, 24, of 2 Auburn Street, Danvers. Anastasi is charged in the November 12, 2011, beating and stabbing death of his father, John Anastasi, 60, of the same address.
On the day of the murder police received a 911 call at 10:24 a.m. from a neighbor of the men, and when they responded found John Anastasi deceased in his home.
Stephen Anastasi is currently being held without bail. He is expected to be arraigned within the next few weeks in Salem Superior Court. He is represented by Attorney John Morris.
On Wednesday, December 28, the Grand Jury returned three first degree murder indictments against Jose Luis Tejada, 41, of 7 Lexington Street, Lawrence, for the shooting deaths of his girlfriend and her two children.
The victims, Milka Rivera, 39, Sachary Montanez, 19, and Max Ariel Montanez, 16, were killed in their 15 Maginnis Avenue home in Lawrence on September 5, 2011.
Tejada will be arraigned in Salem Superior Court on January 19. He is also represented by Attorney John Morris.
The maximum sentence for first degree murder is life in state prison without the possibility of parole.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
