Another Suspect Arraigned In Haverhill Double Homicide
Jonas Rogers, 25, of 4 Prospect Street, Haverhill, pleaded not guilty today in Haverhill District Court to two counts of murder, eight counts of home invasion, seven counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, four counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, two counts of armed assault with intent to murder, and one count of carrying a firearm without a license.
Rogers is accused of the July 23 murders of William Melchionda, 19, of 629 River Street, Haverhill, and Anddy Guzman, 20, of Lawrence, which took place in Melchionda’s apartment.
Judge Patricia Dowling ordered Rogers held without bail and continued his case until August 30 for a probable cause hearing. Rogers is represented by Attorney Arthur L. Kelly of Newton, MA.
On Monday of this week, Rogers’ co-defendant, Juan Carlos Sanchez, 20, of 23 Chestnut Street, Haverhill, pleaded not guilty to identical charges and is being held without bail. He returns to court on August 30 for a probable cause hearing.
Also arraigned Monday was Matthew Rogers, 26, of 1068 Essex Street, Lawrence, who pleaded not guilty to being an accessory after the fact to murder, and misleading a police investigation. He is being held on $25,000 cash bail and returns to court on August 31 for a probable cause hearing.
The investigation is being conducted by Haverhill Police and State Police detectives assigned to the Office of Essex District Attorney Jonathan W. Blodgett.
