Jury Finds Lynn Man Guilty of Voluntary Manslaughter
A Salem Superior Court jury found Fernando Aristy, 25, guilty of voluntary manslaughter in the 2010 beating death of Chad McDonald, 34, of Peabody. Judge David Lowy will sentence Aristy on Friday, February 17, 2012 at 2:00 pm.
Aristy beat McDonald in the early morning hours of October 9 outside a dwelling at 37 Bennett Street in Lynn over a dispute about a parking space. McDonald was discovered the next day by a friend and taken to Massachusetts General Hospital. McDonald died 11 days later.
Essex Assistant District Attorney Maureen Wilson Leal, who was second seated by Essex Assistant District Attorney Melissa Woodard, praised the work of the entire trial team. She also acknowledged the work of the Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office and Lynn Detectives Steve Pohle and Thomas Mulvey.
