Former Lawrence Schools Superintendent Laboy Order to Pay $10,000 Restitution

Former Lawrence Schools Superintendent Wilfredo Laboy was ordered to pay $10,000 in restitution to the Lawrence School Department this morning at a hearing at Lawrence Superior Court.  Judge Robert Cornetta ordered the restitution based upon an agreement reached between the Essex District Attorney’s Office and Laboy’s attorney Scott Gleason.  The amount of restitution was determined through a review of trial testimony and evidence presented at trial.

On March 23, 2012, Judge Richard Welch ordered Laboy to pay restitution to the Lawrence Public Schools following his conviction on 5 counts of fraud and embezzlement charges.  Laboy was also sentenced to 2 years in the House of Correction with 90 days to be served, followed by 3 years of probation which includes one year of house arrest and 600 hours of community service.
