Lawrence Man Held Without Bail in 2 Sexual Assaults
A 21-year old Lawrence man was held without bail following his arraignment in Lawrence District Court today on rape, kidnapping and assault charges in connection with two separate and unrelated attacks. His release on an open case, in which he is charged with Extortion, Distribution of Obscene Matter and Threats, was revoked.

The woman had reported the attack at the time that it occurred. Mateo is charged with Assault with Intent to Rape and Assault and Battery in connection with that incident.
Essex Assistant District Attorney Laura Barletta represented the Commonwealth. Judge Mark Sullivan presided.
Mr. Mateo is represented by Attorney Ronald Ranta and is presumed innocent until proven guilty. All three of Mr. Mateo’s cases are scheduled for a Pre-Trial Conference on November 8, 2016.
