Lynn Woman Charged with Murdering Her Father

Nancy Baker, 68, 109 Jefferson Street, Lynn, was arraigned on murder and animal cruelty charges at Lynn Union Hospital this afternoon.  Baker is accused of murdering her father, Donald Baker, Sr., 89, of the same address, and killing two dogs.  Judge Albert Conlon ordered that Baker be held without bail.

Essex Assistant District Attorney Lisa Core stated that police responded to 109 Jefferson Street on Sunday after a neighbor reported that he had not seen either the defendant or the victim for several days.  Upon arrival, Lynn Police detected a strong odor of decomposition and discovered a large amount of blood and two dogs that had been stabbed to death.  Police then found the defendant in bed and the victim on the floor next to the bed.  She was taken to Lynn Union Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.  After a subsequent investigation, police sought the charges against Ms. Baker.

Ms. Baker was represented by Attorney John Apruzzese and is presumed innocent until proven guilty.  Her next court date is May 22 for a probable cause hearing.
