Murder and Rape Suspect Indicted in Drive-By Lawrence Shooting
A New Hampshire man who is facing murder and aggravated rape charges was indicted today on assault and firearms charges in connection with a drive-by shooting in Lawrence.
Brian Brito, 22, was indicted by an Essex Country Grand Jury on 2 counts of Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, Causing Serious Bodily Injury; 2 counts of Armed Assault with Intent to Murder and Carrying a Firearm without a License. He is currently held without bail on a murder and aggravated rape charges.
The indictment alleges that on March 25, 2017, Brito drove up to a car parked on Berkeley Street and shot the two female occupants, striking one in the head and the other in the leg. Mr. Brito was alleged to be driving a silver BMW and wearing a ski mask and a hooded sweatshirt.
He is also accused of shooting and killing a food delivery man on Bowler Street in Lynn, robbing a North Andover convenience store and raping the store clerk on March 27th. He was indicted for Murder, Aggravated Rape (2 counts), Kidnapping, Armed and Masked Robbery, Carrying a Firearm without a License and Possession of Ammunition with an FID card on May 25, 2017.
He will be arraigned on the new charges at his next court appearance on August 10, 2017.
Mr. Brito is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
